INVISIO (IVSO) has received an order from Bundeswehr, the German military defense through a partner ESG Elektroniksystem und Logistik GmbH. The order is for the communications system INVISIO X50 with X5 and X6 headsets, which will be used in a new combat control system developed by ESG, a consulting firm, for the German national defense. The order value is not official but is below SEK 1 m, and the products will be delivered during the second quarter 2011.

“We are very pleased that the German Bundeswehr chose INVISIO’s communications solution, and it is yet another proof of that our solution is appreciated by the military. We see this order as strategically important and a first step in hopefully more to come from this customer” says Lars Højgård Hansen, CEO of INVISIO Communications.

After comprehensive testing, the German Bundeswehr selected INVISIO to deliver the communications solution to be used in a new solution for transportable landing zones (TLZ). When establishing a TLZ, the Combat Control Team (CCT) have to keep contact to ground troops, they have to inform the pilots of approaching aircrafts or helicopters on current weather data and the general situation at the landing zone.

The CCTs operate under extremely difficult conditions and the communication is difficult due to noise generated by helicopters and planes landing and taking off very close to the personnel. In the evaluation, ESG and the German Bundeswehr compared five different headsets designed for this kind of challenging environment. After tactical field testing, the INVISIO solution, based on INVISIO X50 control unit and the headsets X5 and X6, was chosen for a number of reasons such as the ease-of-use, the superior speech intelligibility, the automatic detection of the connected radios and the hear-through functionality.

“Apart from INVISIO’s products, we also appreciated the simple and rapid cooperation by INVISIO’s very flexible and highly motivated team, that we could count on at all times,” says Mr Beck, Program Manager at ESG. “We are a hardware independent company who is integrating the best solution for the customer. With the X50 system from INVISIO we have integrated the ideal headset for the Combat Control Teams and we look forward to co-operating with INVISIO on other projects in the future.”

The INVISIO X50 intelligent control unit combined with INVISIO X5 and X6 headsets is the world's first digital communication system with certified hearing protection and the patented technology INVISIO Bone Conduction, which enables communication even in extreme conditions. The system also offers protection against acoustic shocks – very high and harmful impulse noises – that potentially causes tinnitus and hearing loss.
