Nextlink’s VoIP patent granted in China

  • Nextlink today announces that it’s VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) patent has been approved and granted in China by the Chinese patent authorities
  • The patent covers a wireless communication terminal for IP telephony
  • The patent was granted in Europe in 2004 and in the US in January 2007. A corresponding patent is being processed in Japan and Hong kong.

“Nextlink’s patent simply means that a user with a handheld unit (terminal) can establish a call that is firstly transported over a short distance wireless network (WLAN or Bluetooth)and secondly using Internet Protocol ” said CEO Lars Højgård Hansen.

After patent grants in Europe and the US it is very important for us that the patent is now also granted in China. Nextlink’s strategy to fully utilise and benefit from the VoIP patent will be established during the first half of 2008 “ Hansen added.
